The James Downing Theatre announces open auditions for its upcoming production of the heartfelt and funny musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, directed by Kevin Reeks.
Performances will run Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings, February 18th through March 4th, 2012.
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a fast-paced and energetic look at Charlie Brown's quest to come to terms with his own inadequacies. The show is based on Charles M. Schultz's “Peanuts” comic strip and follows Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and friends as they face the challenges of life, kites and ball games. Cast members should be young or appear young.
The James Downing Theatre is seeking 4 men and 2 women for the cast. Auditions will be held Sunday, December 4 and Sunday December 11 at 6:00 p.m at the theatre's location in the Edison Park United Methodist Church, 6740 North Oliphant Avenue, Chicago. Theatre entrance is in back of church. No appointments are necessary. Please bring a current headshot and resume, if available.
Auditioners will also need to bring sheet music for a 16 or 32 bar cut of a song that shows off your voice and range. Standard Broadway music is best, but you are welcome to sing from the show. A pianist will be provided. Auditions will also include a cold reading from the script.
Rehearsals will begin in early January. This is a non-Equity production and there is no pay.
