By Moisés Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project
Directed by Floyd A. May
Assistant Directed by Joshua Dlouhy
In October 1998, a 21-year-old student from the University of Wyoming was
kidnapped, beaten, and left to die on a fence in the middle of a
Laramie, Wyoming prairie. His name was Matthew Shepard. Moisés Kaufman
and fellow members of Tectonic Theater Project visited Laramie and
conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town. The
result from Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project members is a
deeply moving theatrical collage exploring the depths to which humanity
can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
